Karl Gerdon Park Project

Located beside the Venango Volunteer Fire Department, Karl Gerdon Park was established several decades ago in honor of Karl Gerdon, whose service to our community impacted many people, in many ways.

It all started with a vision.

The Fire Department and Venango Borough worked together to raise money for:

  • replacement of the playground equipment

  • installation of a new multi-purpose sport court

  • a new pavilion for family and community gatherings

  • river access with a path to French Creek and kayak launch

  • adding a public restroom, benches, a bike rack and many natural features

  • upgrading other amenities such as parking areas, walkways and the grass sport field

The work will be completed in collaboration with a professional engineer, all structural improvements will be made with sustainability as a priority, green spaces will be augmented with tree, shrub and grass plantings and the park will meet current ADA accessibility recommendations.

This is an exciting time for Venango and we look forward to working with you to make this project successful.

So many memories have been made at Karl Gerdon Park. We’ve played basketball, kickball, and baseball. We’ve watched our kids play and grow up in this park! But time and weather takes a toll. We are thankful for the memories, and we look forward to a bright future for our community!
